As a result of russia’s full-scale military invasion, educational institutions in Ukraine have suffered greatly. The Ministry of Education and Science reports that as of May 18, 2022, the russian army damaged and destroyed almost 1,800 educational institutions. Most of them are in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, where more than 400 buildings in each area have been destroyed or damaged.
Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs—a higher educational institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs—is losing its physical infrastructure and creating appropriate conditions for employees’ full-fledged training and activities “from scratch” for the second time. Like in 2014, the russian occupiers didn’t allow the University team to evacuate sports equipment, so modern sports simulators and other training equipment remained at the Donetsk University of Internal Affairs in Mariupol. Today, the educational institution has moved to Kryvyi Rih (Dnipropetrovsk region), where it continues its educational activities.
As part of a joint charity project, BGV Charity Fund and the DC Crystal team donated a set of modern sports equipment to the Kryvyi Rih Educational and Research Institute of Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs to properly organize educational and training processes, including section work on various sports.
Together with partners from DC Crystal, our fund donated CrossFit sandbags, three-, six–and nine-kilogram med balls, weight vests, battle ropes, TRX loops, and sand weights to the institute. In total, it is almost 100 units of professional sports equipment.
“On behalf of myself, the staff, and students of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, I’d like to thank the partners for their assistance, significant support, and the university’s physical infrastructure improvement. Our country is going through difficult times. Now we all need to be united and supportive. After all, only together are we the force!” Pylyp Yepryntsev, Vice-Rector-Director of the Kryvyi Rih Educational and Research Institute of Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, commented.
By helping to improve the internally-displaced university’s physical infrastructure, we support the youth, sports, and new generations of Ukraine’s defenders.
