BGV and The Pure In Hearts charity funds launch humanitarian project for older people in Zhytomyr region

On the eve of the Christmas and New Year holidays, the Pure In Hearts Foundation and Hennadii Butkevych’s BGV Charity Fund are launching a joint humanitarian initiative, Everyone Matters. The project’s goal is to help older people of the Zhytomyr region, who need special attention and basic needs met, with comprehensive grocery kits.

As part of the project’s first wave, the Pure In Hearts and BGV foundations have raised and are handing over 20,000 food kits to the Zhytomyr territorial communities for the population aged 70+—the main focus is older people who live alone. Such sets include rice, pasta, oil, canned goods, tea, salt, and sauce—about 12 product items.

“Unfortunately, we cannot solve all the problems of the elderly amid constant shelling, problems with electricity and heat. But by implementing such a charitable project, we can help people save some money—especially the elderly, who have minimal pensions. Our foundations purchased part of the aid that the elderly will receive within the project, and part is aid from the People’s Republic of China. Over the past month, they delivered more than a thousand tons of products to Ivano-Frankivsk. From there, the goods are distributed to various regions of Ukraine, including the Zhytomyr region,” Vasyl Vyshyvanouk, co-founder of the Pure In Hearts Foundation, shares.

To be able to scale the project and help as many elderly residents of the Zhytomyr region as possible, the project’s initiators also announce the creation of a charity platform, Everyone Matters, with a call to regional businesses and all concerned citizens to join the fundraising to form more food kits, which will be given to the elderly.

“There are 120,000 people over 70 living in the Zhytomyr region. Some of them witness the terrible war and its devastating consequences for the second time. Living alone in remote settlements without access to the Internet and various programs for IDPs, they need our special support. That is why our partners and we decided that our regional humanitarian initiative will be aimed at the elderly, primarily those living alone. We are starting the project with 20,000 comprehensive food kits and will look for opportunities to expand the project and increase the amount of assistance with regional businesses. Ukraine is living in tough times. Getting together and helping each other is a way of life for Ukrainians. And everyone is significant,” Polina Aldoshyna, a representative of the BGV Charity Fund and deputy of the Zhytomyr Regional Council, emphasized.

Batches of food kits will be issued to the elderly on the ground, organized by the local authorities. Part of the kits will be distributed centrally, about which representatives will inform residents of the village, settlement, and city councils. Part of the food packages will be delivered to the addresses of pensioners. Regarding obtaining a food set, you can contact the representative offices of local self-government bodies: village, settlement, and city councils of your community, which will help you fill out a written application for receiving aid.
