ABOUT THE PROJECT

Supporting young Ukrainians is one of the top priorities of the BGV Charity Fund. That is why we are launching the sixth wave of our baby box project — because children are among the most vulnerable groups of the population and need comprehensive care and support.

In today’s challenging environment and given current demographic trends, many newborns come into the world in potentially dangerous areas — frontline and border regions. That’s why this wave of the project focuses on supporting families with babies living in the Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions.

At the same time, we recognize that the need for help is not limited by geography. Therefore, we are expanding our support to socially vulnerable families across Ukraine. This includes, in particular:

  • families with many children;
  • low-income households;
  • families of combatants;
  • families of fallen (deceased) soldiers, those missing in action, or military personnel currently held in captivity;
  • single mothers and fathers;
  • parents with disabilities;
  • families raising a child with a disability;
  • internally displaced persons (IDPs);
  • families affected by hostilities or occupation;
  • families where one of the parents is unemployed.

As part of the sixth wave of the project, 10,000 baby boxes have been prepared with essential items for a newborn’s first months of life. Each box contains clothing, hygiene and care products, diapers, wipes, toys, and other useful items.

These kits were made possible thanks to the continued support of our donor — the DM chain of stores, as well as the partner of the sixth wave — Biosphere Corporation. Delivery is carried out by our new logistics partner — Ukrposhta, enabling us to reach families in different parts of the country, including areas where access to regular services is limited.

WHO CAN RECEIVE A KIT?

Families with children aged 0 to 3 months at the time of application are eligible to receive a charitable baby box. Priority is given to families whose babies were born and reside in nine frontline and border regions of Ukraine:
Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odesa.

In addition, the BGV Charity Fund also supports socially vulnerable families from other regions of Ukraine who fall under the following categories:

  • families with many children
  • low-income families
  • families of combatants
  • families of fallen (deceased), missing, or captured military personnel
  • single mothers or fathers
  • parents with disabilities
  • families raising a child with a disability
  • internally displaced persons (IDPs)
  • families affected by hostilities or occupation
  • families where one of the parents is unemployed

Please note:
Only one baby box is provided per child. If your family has twins, triplets, or multiple children within the eligible age range, please submit a separate application for each child.

HOW TO RECEIVE A KIT?

To receive a baby kit, please fill out a short application form on our website. You will need to provide information about yourself and your baby, your contact details, and the address for delivery via Ukrposhta.

Make sure to upload photos or scans of the required documents: your child’s birth certificate; your ID card (both sides) or passport (first page, second page, and page with registration) and your individual tax number (ITN).

If you are applying as a representative of a socially vulnerable category, please also upload the appropriate supporting document:

  1. Families with many children — certificate confirming the status of a large family.
  2. Low-income families — notification of state social assistance granted to low-income families.
  3. Families of combatants — combatant’s ID.
  4. Families of fallen (deceased), missing, or captured service members — certificate for family members of the deceased/missing or a certificate confirming captivity by the aggressor state.
  5. Single mother or father — one of the following (child’s birth certificate with no entry for one parent; court decision on parental rights termination; death certificate of the second parent; court ruling declaring the parent missing; extract from the civil registry (DRACS) indicating the basis for entering the father’s information based on the mother’s statement).
  6. Parents with disabilities — disability certificate.
  7. Families raising a child with a disability — child’s disability certificate + child’s birth certificate.
  8. Internally displaced persons (IDPs) — IDP certificate.
  9. Families affected by hostilities or occupation — certificate recognizing the person as affected by an emergency situation.
  10. Families where one parent is unemployed — certificate from the employment center confirming registered unemployment status.

After completing and submitting the form, make sure to confirm your application: you will receive an email with a confirmation link. Please check your inbox (including the spam folder), open the email, and click the button or link to verify your application. Without this step, your application will not enter the system.

Once confirmed, the system will generate a unique application number, which will be sent to your email. Please save this number for future reference.

Application processing may take several weeks. If all submitted information is correct, the baby box will be automatically approved and sent to the Ukrposhta branch you specified. If there are any discrepancies, we will contact you to clarify the information.

ABOUT THE 5 WAVES OF THE PROJECT IN NUMBERS

The baby kit project started as a small initiative back in the summer of 2022 with the support of our partners dm-drogerie markt Deutschland and #WeAreAllUkrainians. Since then, we have completed 5 waves of the project and distributed 50,000 kits, assisting families in need.

What We Have Achieved:

Boxes with baby products have been distributed throughout Ukraine (except for temporarily occupied territories): the project covered 23 regions of Ukraine.

Throughout 5 waves, we distributed approximately 800,000 units of products, including essential items for baby care.

Over the entire period, we received 58,060 applications (including applications that did not meet the requirements or were submitted repeatedly).

The necessary assistance reached 3,396 settlements, covering both large cities and the most remote villages.

Our volunteers spent approximately 5,000 hours packing the kits, dedicating their energy and time to helping those in need.

Verification of all applications took over 4,800 hours, including document clarifications and additional communication with applicants.

These are not just numbers — these are the lives of people for whom these kits have become a real help during a difficult time. Each kit is a small step towards greater comfort and safety for the children, for whom we all work.
