In February, the BGV Charity Fund, together with its partners, purchased and delivered uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and furniture to the Kherson Regional Children’s Hospital for a total amount of 500,000 UAH. These funds were used to procure:
11 uninterruptible power supplies;
2 racks without legs;
17 cabinets.
Anton Anatoliyovych Devyatko, Deputy Director for Medical Care Quality, Infection Control, and Public Communications at the Kherson Regional Children’s Hospital, emphasized that the UPS devices were installed for X-ray machines, ultrasound scanners, an echoencephalograph, and patient monitors in the intensive care unit. These devices must operate continuously, as patient safety depends directly on their functioning.
“Power outages at the hospital occur regularly, especially after Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure — on average, 15–20 times a year. While the hospital has autonomous power sources, even brief switching delays to backup systems can cause disruptions in the operation of medical equipment. This is critical for diagnostic procedures because even a short loss of power can affect the accuracy of test results or damage the equipment,” explained Anton Anatoliyovych.
Installing the UPS systems will ensure the stable operation of vital medical equipment and guarantee a high standard of healthcare and safety for more than 30,000 patients who seek care at the hospital annually.
The project “Light of Life: Ensuring Uninterrupted Medical Care for Children of Kherson Region” was implemented with the support of the NGO “Youth of Ukraine” in partnership with DCA-NCA and is funded by the European Union.
