Palliative camp in the Kyiv region in partnership with the Tabletochki Foundation

The BGV Charity Fund, together with its co-founder Anna Butkevich, became a partner of the palliative camp in the Kyiv region, organized in collaboration with the Tabletochki Foundation in 2024.

Eight families supported by Tabletochki’s palliative care program participated in the six-day camp. Throughout the camp, both parents and children enjoyed a wide range of experiences: they worked with psychologists, a canine specialist and specially trained dogs, took part in creative workshops, a chemistry show by animators, a beauty day, a family photo session, and danced at a disco. Every activity was thoughtfully designed to ensure all participants could join. Parents often admitted that they hadn’t expected to see just how much their children were truly capable of. Such moments restore their confidence and faith in their own strength.

It’s worth noting that families with terminally ill children often feel isolated, as they don’t always have someone, even among close ones, to share their pain with and receive understanding and support. That’s why camps like this are a unique opportunity for families to meet others going through similar experiences, try something new, and, for the first time in a long while, have a rest — finally able to share the care of their seriously ill child with volunteer helpers.
