From June to September 2024, the BGV Charity Fund, in cooperation with the Ranok publishing house, the Knigolend bookstore chain, and the NGO La Strada-Ukraine, launched the charitable initiative “Boost the Libraries of Kharkiv!”. The goal was to raise 150,000 UAH to purchase Ukrainian books for nine libraries in the city of Kharkiv.
The campaign was conducted on the official social media pages of the organizers. Each week, a new prize could be won by making a donation. Among the prizes were:
A one-year book subscription from Ranok publishing groups
A festive scarf with Vasyl Krychevskyi’s ornaments from krapka.krapka
A two-month online English course by Anna Butkevych
Serhiy Zhadan’s book “The List of Ships” signed by the author
The book “Bloom! Or How to Love the One in the Mirror” signed by Olya Tsybulskaya
A set of 10 skincare and hygiene products from well-known brands, plus two gift certificates of 500 UAH each from eva and eva.ua
A Baby Box from the American brand Carter’s
Two electronic construction kits by Doka from Kiddisvit
A MyPlay Surprise Box
A gift box from RNK-Ranok publishing corporation
Donation amounts for participation in the prize draws were specified for each prize in the social media posts. Each week, using a randomizer, the BGV Charity Fund team selected a winner among the donors and notified them by email.
Additionally, anyone could contribute to the restocking of Kharkiv’s libraries with Ukrainian books by purchasing an “anti-stress friend” — a booklet designed to help reduce anxiety and restore balance — for a free-will donation at Knigolend bookstores in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa.
As part of this charitable initiative, 150,000 UAH was raised, which was doubled by Ranok publishing house. In total, over 900 new Ukrainian books were donated to nine libraries in Kharkiv thanks to the collected funds.
The BGV Charity Fund sincerely thanks all partners and donors for making this large-scale project a reality!
