The project aimed to promote access to online education and was focused on supporting vulnerable categories of young school-age children from families affected by the war in Ukraine who are internally displaced persons (IDPs).
As part of the project, BGV provided 5,000 tablets to IDP children. According to the project conditions, assistance was provided to children aged 6 to 14 from socially vulnerable groups and those with special educational needs, including:
• children with disabilities;
• children from large families;
• children from low-income families;
• orphans and children deprived of parental care;
• children from single-parent families;
• children affected by military actions and armed conflicts.
The project was implemented in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Sumy regions.
The organizational activities of BGV within the project were supported by the Secretariat of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights. The regional representatives of the Ombudsman’s Office communicated with families and children who met the project’s criteria. Staff of the Ombudsman’s regional offices helped families register and complete applications to participate in the project.
The project’s logistics partner was Nova Poshta, which covered the cost of delivering the tablets to the nearest branches in five regions of Ukraine.
All tablets were equipped with SIM cards with 1-year prepaid 4G Internet. The project’s telecommunications partner was Vodafone Ukraine.
