Provision of kitchen equipment for the Sumy geriatric boarding house

BGV Charity Fund received a grant under the program “Community-Level Crisis Response” from the Danish humanitarian organization DanChurchAid to support the kitchen facility needs of the Sumy Geriatric Boarding House.

With the grant funds — $10,000 — the Fund’s team purchased and delivered electric stoves, a freezer, a refrigerated production cabinet, a chopping and cutting machine, metal production shelves, serving trolleys, and stainless-steel production tables.

As of November 2023, the Sumy Geriatric Boarding House for war and labor veterans houses 294 residents: 91 women and 203 men. Among them are 77 internally displaced persons who arrived from the border areas of Sumy district and cities such as Bakhmut, Lysychansk, Kherson, and others. Additionally, 162 residents have disabilities — mostly chronically ill and immobile individuals, many of whom are bedridden and require special attention and care from the staff. Most of the facility’s residents are over 60 years old.
