Internship for Rehabilitation Specialists in Estonia

According to Ottobock, the leading German manufacturer of modern prosthetics, the number of Ukrainians who have lost limbs due to combat injuries during the war may exceed 50,000. This has created a significant demand for rehabilitation specialists in Ukraine. In response, the BGV Charity Fund, together with international partners, launched a project to provide internships for Ukrainian specialists from the Zhytomyr region.

In collaboration with the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV), a training program was organized for 10 rehabilitation professionals — including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists — at one of the most advanced hospitals in Tallinn.

During the internship, Ukrainian healthcare professionals deepened their knowledge on how to support patients with amputations and how to motivate them to actively participate in their rehabilitation process. They also learned to apply these skills in practice and address specific physical and psychological challenges associated with limb loss.
