Together with Vodafone Ukraine, we collected and delivered 6,000 food kits for internally displaced persons

The number of internally displaced persons in Ukraine has exceeded 8 million people. This data comes from research by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Unfortunately, the trend of increasing numbers of people forced to leave their homes continues.

Equally troubling are the unemployment figures in Ukraine. Due to the war, 41% of the country’s citizens have stopped working. This data is provided by the Sociological Group “Rating.” Thus, nearly every second Ukrainian has become unemployed.

In these extremely difficult times, providing vulnerable groups of the population with basic food supplies remains one of the key priorities of humanitarian work.

The BGV Charity Fund, in cooperation with Vodafone Ukraine, implemented a charitable aid project for internally displaced persons in southern Ukraine. Together with partners, we collected and delivered nearly 6,000 individual food kits worth a total of 3 million hryvnias for displaced persons in the Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia regions.

The food kits were centrally handed over to the city councils of Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv, which, with their own efforts and with volunteer support, ensured the distribution of aid locally.

The kits have already been received by the most vulnerable families under the care of the child welfare services (departments) of the Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv city councils. These include guardianship and foster families, family-type children’s homes, as well as families of forcibly displaced persons with children who arrived from the occupied territories and found themselves in difficult life circumstances.

The food kits, assembled and delivered by our charity fund in partnership with Vodafone Ukraine, consist of 12 items: sunflower oil, rice, oatmeal flakes, pasta (spaghetti), a set of canned goods, two types of biscuits, canned peas, tea, sugar, and salt.

The 6,000 kits represent only the first stage of cooperation between the BGV Charity Fund and Vodafone Ukraine. Moving forward, we plan to expand the geographical reach of assistance and increase its volume.
