The number of internally displaced persons in Ukraine has exceeded 8 million. Such research data are provided by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Unfortunately, the number of people forced to leave their homes still increases.
Apart from that, the figures on unemployment in Ukraine are discouraging. The Rating Sociological Group’s data says that 41% of our citizens stopped working as a result of the war. Thus, almost one in two Ukrainians became unemployed.
In such challenging times, providing essential food products to vulnerable groups is one of the priority areas of humanitarian work.
BGV Charity Fund, in cooperation with Vodafone Ukraine, implemented a project to assist internally displaced persons in the south of Ukraine. We collected and donated UAH 3 million worth of almost 6,000 individual food kits for IDPs in the Mykolaiv and Zaporizhia regions with our partners.
We handed over food kits to Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv City Councils, which ensured aid distribution on the ground with their effort and the support of volunteers.
The most vulnerable families the social children services of Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv city councils take care of have already received the kits. These are foster and adoptive families, family-type orphanages, and families of IDPs with children who came from the occupied territories and found themselves in difficult life circumstances.
The product kits, formed and delivered by our charity fund together with Vodafone Ukraine, consist of 12 items: sunflower oil, rice, oatmeal, pasta (spaghetti), pate, and canned fish, two types of cookies, canned peas, tea, sugar, and salt.
Six thousand kits are only the first stage of cooperation between the BGV Charity Fund and Vodafone Ukraine. We plan to expand the geographical scale of aid and increase its amount in the future.
