Adaptation of Soldiers to Civilian Life is a complex, multi-layered process that affects not only the serviceman but their entire family. Often, loved ones expect “the same” husband, son, or father to return… But war changes a person, and these changes are inevitable.
How can families understand those who have returned from war?
What happens to a soldier’s psyche?
How to respond to changes in behavior, and most importantly — how to preserve connection, trust, and love?
Answers to these questions are in a series of slides created with the participation of Liliya Sokoliuk, head of the Resilience Center in Zhytomyr. Liliya and her team work daily with military families, lead support groups, and help navigate the difficult adaptation journey not alone, but together — with professional support and understanding.
