BGV Charity Fund donated a Venue ultrasound system with a transesophageal probe worth 4.07 million hryvnias to the Heart Institute. This high-precision equipment significantly improves diagnostic quality and allows doctors to perform real-time transesophageal echocardiography (TEE). According to Vitaliy Bohdanovych Demyanchuk, Deputy General Director for Cardiac Surgery at the Heart Institute, the use of an ultrasound device with a transesophageal probe is essential during heart surgeries.
“This need is critical for us. Unfortunately, not all hospitals have access to such a system because it is very expensive. We are grateful to now have it. Ultrasound examinations on equipment of this type provide highly accurate intraoperative cardiovascular studies, which simplify decision-making during open-heart surgeries,” explained Vitaliy Bohdanovych.
Every year, hundreds of surgeries are performed at the Heart Institute, and in the past year alone, over 300 intraoperative ultrasounds were conducted. Thanks to the new equipment, this number will increase, saving even more lives.
“The new device is used daily in the operating unit. It has proven most useful in cardiac surgery. It plays a particularly important role in monitoring hemodynamics during surgeries on the heart and major vessels. It also helps assess the quality of performed operations, including valve repair, and diagnose possible complications in patients,” added the Deputy General Director.
We understand that modern equipment is not a luxury but a critical necessity, especially during war. Therefore, our team continues to support hospitals to ensure every patient has a chance for quality treatment. Thank you to everyone who helps us save lives! 💙💛
