The BGV Charity Fund was among the respondents of a large-scale study on the charity sector in Ukraine, conducted by the team at the Zagoriy Foundation. The research reveals key trends, figures, and insights about the current state of philanthropy in our country.
It offers a chance to better understand how the sector is evolving, how Ukrainians’ attitudes toward giving are shifting, and what challenges charitable organizations face today.
As part of the study, experts surveyed 2,400 Ukrainians aged 18 and older, 400 representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and conducted 20 in-depth interviews with leaders in the civil society sector.
A few key figures:
86% of Ukrainians are involved in charitable activities;
Currently, 54% of surveyed organizations collaborate with businesses regularly or occasionally. Most of these partnerships are within organizations that support the defense forces of Ukraine (31%), provide humanitarian aid (30%), or work in education (21%);
Ukrainians continue to prefer direct aid, with the main motivations being compassion (33%), patriotism (17%), and a sense of social responsibility (16%).
We are grateful to the Zagoriy Foundation for this vital work! Together, we are shaping a new culture of giving in Ukraine.
