The BGV Charity Fund team has successfully completed the implementation of the grant project ‘Assistance to the victims of shelling of the Sumy geriatric nursing home for war and labour veterans: restoration and support at the Krolevets nursing home in Sumy region’.
This project marks another milestone in our productive cooperation with DanChurchAid. In 2023, with the support of our partners, we equipped a kitchen for the Sumy geriatric nursing home. However, following another russian shelling and partial destruction of the facility on September 19, 2024, there was an urgent need for additional support. Once again, we turned to DanChurchAid, and received prompt support for our initiative!
Through this collaboration, UAH 620,000 was raised to support the victims of the shelling and provide them with decent living conditions and adaptation at the Krolevets nursing home in Sumy region.
Thanks to the grant, the nursing home was equipped with essential furniture and supplies:
- Beds
- Mattresses
- Pillows
- Blankets
- Tables
- Desks
- Chairs
Additionally, clothing was provided:
- Women’s jackets
- Men’s jackets
Tableware was also purchased:
- Cups
- Plates
- Bowls
Thanks to the successful implementation of this project, our team achieved the following:
🔸 Improved the material base of the institution, raising the standards of care.
🔸 Reduced the workload of staff, leading to improved service quality.
🔸 Created a comfortable environment for residents, helping restore their psychological balance after the trauma they had experienced.
🔸 Resettled individuals feel safe and secure, with a sense of progress.
This project is a powerful example of how joint efforts can change lives for the better.
