The BGV Charity Fund, together with Ranok Publishing House, the Knigoland bookstore network, and the La Strada-Ukraine non-profit organization, has launched a campaign called “Boost Kharkiv’s Libraries!”
This charity campaign aims to raise UAH 150,000 to purchase Ukrainian books for nine libraries in the city of Kharkiv.
The campaign will run on the organizers’ official social media pages throughout June. Each week, a new item will be offered as a prize for donations. These items will include books, personalized video messages from celebrities, a free English course, concert tickets for Ukraine’s most enigmatic star, and other exciting rewards.
Donation amounts required for participation in the draw will be specified for each item in the posts. Each week, the BGV Charity Fund team will randomly select a winner from the donors using a randomizer and notify them via email.
The war has fostered a love for the Ukrainian language, literature, and authors among Ukrainians, so making Ukrainian books accessible is a top priority now. Ukrainian books must replace Russian ones, which previously made up a significant portion of library collections, to ensure that Ukrainian libraries, including those in Kharkiv, have plenty of new literature.
You can also help restock Kharkiv’s libraries with Ukrainian books by purchasing an “anti-stress friend” booklet for any donation amount at Knigolend bookstores in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa. This booklet helps reduce anxiety and restore balance.
