The BGV Charity Foundation has published a report on its first year of operation – the organisation was established on 20 March 2022 to help and support Ukrainians during the war.
The first year of the foundation’s existence was, without exaggeration, a year of extraordinary efforts and challenges. BGV members formed a team, faced difficulties in a new field and successfully overcame them; established connections with foreign and Ukrainian donors; assessed how and to whom they could provide the most effective assistance – and did so. The team identified three priority areas of the foundation’s work:
- Humanitarian support for the population
- Children’s and educational initiatives
- Support for defenders
In its first year of operation, BGV implemented more than 20 projects, and the geography of assistance covered the whole of Ukraine: the team delivered humanitarian supplies to 24 regions. The foundation’s trucks covered about 262,000 kilometres and used more than 79,000 litres of fuel.
Our charity received financial assistance from Ukraine, Germany, Poland, the UK, Switzerland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Austria, Romania and Estonia. The total amount of donations was UAH 583 million! The foundation’s team engaged 30 partners to provide humanitarian aid to Ukrainians affected by the war and hostilities.
Up to 350 organisations received humanitarian aid: these include medical institutions, local governments, state administrations, territorial defence units, military units, partner charities and volunteer organisations. The commercial value of this aid was UAH 490 million.
Today, the BGV Charity Foundation team can confidently say that it has coped with its tasks and done much more than it could have imagined. A year of resilience, determination to act, and incredible efforts aimed at taking care of our own – Ukrainians. We are proud to have achieved so much and welcome your congratulations.
